I had an amazing experience on the Preah Khan Temple Grand Tour in Siem Reap! The tour was incredibly informative and well-organized, giving us deep insights into the history and significance of this magnificent temple. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the stories behind the intricate carvings and ancient ruins. A smaller temple dedicated to the kings father. His ashes still remain in the centre in a Stupa. There is lost to see here including intricate carvings and a few out buildings.

Le temple se trouve après avoir emprunté un chemin bordé de statues. Loin des foules, ce temple est immense. Beaucoup de sculptures bien conservées dans les murs.\nL’un des plus beaux temples pour moi. À visiter absolument

다양한 구조물이 한 곳이 모인 이곳\n볼 거리가 많고 풍경도 좋다

12세기 후반 크메르 왕국의 자야바르만 7세가 건립한 불교 사원이다.\n\n한 시대를 대표하는 명작이 만들어지면\n이후의 건축가들은 으레 낙심한다.\n뭘 해도 저것보다는 더 잘 만들 수 없을 거라고 좌절한다.\n몇십 년 전 완성된 앙코르와트가 그런 존재였다.\n그 때 자야바르만 7세가 등장해 기가 죽은 장인들을 구원했다.\n당장 종교부터 바꿔 크메르 왕국은 잠시 불교 국가가 됐다.\n앙코르와트 북쪽에 거대한 도시 앙코르톰을 세우고\n도시를 중심으로 앙코르와트와 대칭되는 위치에 프레아칸을 세웠다.\n\n거대한 대칭구조인 힌두교 사원 앙코르와트와는 다르게\n불교 사원 프레아칸은 무수한 비대칭 요소들로 이루어져 있다.\n지금은 거의 무너진 상태임에도 불구하고\n중앙축(동서축)을 따라 사원을 걸으면 양옆의 풍경이 서로 다르다는 걸 느낄 수 있다.\n피라미드 구조를 바탕으로 쌓아올린 앙코르와트와 다르게\n프레아칸은 평면의 변주만을 통해 신비한 공간을 구성했다.\n넘어설 수 없을 것 같았던 한계를 극복한 자유로움이 사원 곳곳에 담겨 있다.\n\n자야바르만 7세는 기존의 피라미드형 대칭구조 양식 자체에도 도전했다.\n비슷한 시기에 지어진 앙코르톰 정중앙의 바이욘 사원은\n오히려 전통을 따르는 거의 완벽한 대칭 구조에 피라미드 형태를 띠지만\n정교한 조각과 함께 자의식이 넘치는 왕의 얼굴을 여러 개 새김으로써\n지금은 순례자들이 사진찍기 제일 좋아하는 장소가 되어 있다.
